Casts K and T As You Knew Them Have Changed to the Legacy Xperience!

What does the Legacy Xperience offer?

The Legacy Xperience is designed for youth 7-17 to experience the legacy of Up with People through modern day application during our Alumni Week and beyond! Wherever your child falls in the age range, we have a space for them in the Legacy Xperience programme - building a legacy from generation to generation.

L - Leadership
E - Engagement
G - Global Citizenship
A - Arts
C - Culture
Y - Youth

Our Legacy Xperience offers a weeklong curriculum, combining components of visual & performing arts, cultural awareness, volunteerism, and global citizenship. Ireland will set the stage to Xplore the local region and a wide variety of Xtraordinary outdoor adventures, as well as to interact with the local community. The Legacy Xperience will culminate with a final performance for hundreds of enthusiastic alumni, followed the next day by an action-packed day of adventurous high ropes, low ropes, lakeside swimming and more. Before heading home campers will take part in a facilitated reflection of their Xperience and the rich legacy they inherited—it's just like a 'mini' UWP Xperience!

While the adults are nurturing old Up with People friendships, our Legacy Xperience participants will be developing new international relationships, breaking stereotypes, and building bridges of understanding—sound familiar?

Look out, your kids might just ask to come back to Annual Alumni Week every year for another Xceptional Xperience!

Why the change?

In response to not only the 2019 alumni survey, but also with thanks to input from Cast K and T participants and parents from 2022 and 2023, this opportunity has been created! You spoke and we listened!

Who is leading?

This will be a more in-depth programme than we’ve ever had before for both age groups! It runs during Annual Alumni Week 2024, and we are delighted that Walter Belcher (’89C), along with a very talented international team will be leading these Xperiences.

What are the dates?

The Legacy Xperience programme will run from July 21st – 26th, inclusive (6 full days!), and launch with a Family Day and Orientation on the 21st. Spaces will be limited. You will need to check in on the 20th or very early on the 21st. One parent per participant may attend the orientation and family day, which includes a fun activity travelling back in time for a 16th Century Medieval experience on the 21st. A second parent or guardian may register separately for this special day for a small fee.

Legacy Xperience Team

Walter Belcher

I am Walter Belcher, a proud Up with People alumnus and former Director of Camp UWP and Up with People Jr. As an artist and educator, I consider creativity, and artistic expression to be my superpower. Needless to say, I welcome the opportunity to launch Xperience K and T in Ireland this summer. Can’t wait to see you all!!

Marci
Hi I'm  Marci Matchett, an elementary school teacher for more than 30 years with a smile as bright as a box of crayons! I traveled in Cast '90A and as road staff in '91A. With a passion for fostering inclusion and celebrating uniqueness, I am your go-to guide for a fun-filled week of laughter, friendship, silly and magical moments. Can't wait to see you in Ireland this summer.

Max
Hi there! I’m Max, from Sweden but I’ve lived in London for the past five years, I moved here for the fish & chips and stayed for the rainy weather! I travelled in B15/A16 and then worked for both UWP and Camp UWP in several different positions over a few years, and now I’m so very excited to be part of this summer’s Xperience! We have a fantastic team, and I’m sure we’ll have an amazing week!

Emily

Hi! My name is Emily, and I live in Boston, Massachusetts. I traveled in '15A, then worked for Camp Up with People for five years in various positions. I look forward to joining the Xperience K and T team and am so excited to have a great week together!

Hi my name is Bryce and I'm currently living in North Carolina. After four great summers attending Camp Up with People (CUWP), I traveled in Up with People Casts '15B and '16A. Then I worked with CUWP for two years and also helped launch the first Up with People Jr Program in Greensboro North Carolina. A fun fact about me is I love making music, dancing and DJ-ing in my free time. I can't wait to meet all of you this week, it will certainly be a week to remember!

Hi there, I am Lisa! I'm from the land of chocolate waffles and fries - yep, I'm Belgian. My Up with People adventure started with Camp Up with People in 2017 and 2018 as a camper. I then continued as CUWP staff in 2022 I also helped launch the first Up with People Jr program in Belgium. I am so excited to be a part of the legacy experience team this year and I can't wait to dive into the amazing week with you all!

Hi everyone! My name is Nicole and I live in Onze Lieve Vrouw Waver, in the Flemish part of  Belgium.
Back in 1984 I traveled in Cast B, I learned of CUWP through my daughter and was involved in UWP Jr.
Never had a shortage of hobbies of which cooking is the most important. Ocassionly I take part in “Smart To Sing” and since I do some sewing in between, the newest challenge will be “making hoods”.
I am very excited to take part in the Legacy programme and working together with the team and all participants. Together we will have the most of fun in Limerick!

Hey, I‘m Philipp, 20 years old from Germany and travelled in Cast A23. Right now, I‘m studying econometrics in Rotterdam.
In my freetime, I love to meet new people, dance (especially ballroom dancing), debate and play cards.
I‘m very excited for the reunion, listen to some good old UWP stories and make some new friends from around the world <3

Hi! I’m Jenn, and I live in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I traveled in Cast '00C and have been lucky to stay connected to UWP previously as office staff, and then with the Camp Up with People and Camp Horizons team. I’m thrilled to be joining the Legacy Xperience team this summer—I'm excited to spend the week the learning, sharing, and celebrating the magic of UWP together! We are many, we are one!
