Fifteen registrants, including our Legacy in Action 18-20 year olds, are invited to participate in community service while in Limerick!

We have an opportunity to participate in community service at the nearby hospice and care center, Milford Care Centre, which is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation and registered charity. It was first established by the Little Company of Mary Sisters in 1928 and now provides Specialist Palliative Care and Older Persons Services. The UWPIAA and its alumni, purchased and donated six cherry trees last year, will increase that number this year and next. The trees will become part of our legacy in Limerick and be part of creating a "cherry tree avenue" in the therapeutic gardens.

Those volunteering this summer will be helping with much-needed garden maintenance, including weeding, watering, edging, pruning and perhaps some planting.

The service will take place from 9:00 to 16:00 on Thursday, 24 July.

Volunteers need to be mobile and fit. You will need to bring appropriate CLOSED toe work / hiking type shoes boots (NO sandals / gym shoes / runners). Also bring layers and a raincoat. Bring sunscreen, a hat, long pants / jeans and you MUST bring your own gardening / work gloves. The care center cannot provide work gloves.

Volunteers will receive snacks and lunch!

Meet at UL at 8:45 for the brief walk to the care center, and at 9:00 staff will provide a briefing.

To sign up for community service, add it on the ticket page (step 2). Go all the way through step 3, "Confirm and Check Out" in order for it to be saved to your record. If you are already registered, use the "Modify My Registration" option with the link in your confirmation email, or use the small white dropdown arrow to the right side of the "Register" button.

Note, there is no charge to participate, but we need you to add it to your registration so we know who is planning to join us!
